Well, I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. I am sure many of you went to Seattle for the Pride events over there. I know Brian and I saw many of you there. We went to the One Mighty Pride event at the Experience Music Project (EMP). It was a good time, great music and live performances by Abigail and Frenchie Davis with a group of men from the Seattle Men’s Chorus.
Now that Seattle Pride is behind us it is time to focus on Kitsap Pride on July 21 at Evergreen Park in Bremerton. We are planning a special Red Star on Saturday evening following the pride event in the park. We are really going to try to blow it out. You have given us the confidence to go big by coming out in numbers to support Red Star. We are working on securing a guest DJ for the night plus fun & prizes.
Thanks again for your support and letting us know what you want. Leave us a comment or at least some kudos. See you on July 6 and again on the 21st.
We had another very successful night at our June 1 event. It was great to see lots of regulars, if you can have regulars after five nights, and still so many new people. It was rewarding to be thanked several times last night by people who came for the first time. We had 130 people there last night. Another Red Star record! That’s 500 people in 5 nights our average is 100!
We know that the Red Star Friday Night is not for everyone but everyone is welcome. We hope you will all keep coming or come see what it is all about if you haven’t had the chance yet. It was great to see some new women show up and check it out.
We will keep with our first Fridays and add some mid-month special events. We don’t want to do it too often, it is a lot of volunteer effort and it could water down the experience. Like going to a High School reunion every year. If you enjoy it plan for it. Mark your First Fridays now.
July will have Kitsap Pride events on the 20/21/22 weekend. Kitsap Pride is on Saturday the 21st. The money we get from the door is going to the entertainment at Pride.
We have been looking at producing a fun drag show and have been approached by some experienced folks to help us out. We’ve considered bringing in gay comedians/performers for a night too. Give us some feedback. Post a comment to this blog.
It’s that big.
Well we did it. In just three events we crossed well over 100 people. The energy was great this past Friday. It was a great night with new people with more people in there 20’s and 30’s than the previous event. The DJ did a great job and played some great music all night long. The dance floor & stage filled up with dancers.
We raised some of the money we need to help pay for the stage & sound system at the Kitsap Pride event on July 21 at Evergreen Park in Bremerton. The “Red Star” Stage!
We would like some input on maybe doing an occasional third Friday event. Maybe with a different feel. We’ve contacted the Le Faux show in Seattle. We could do a movie, it is an old theater, and maybe a Wizard of Oz sing-a-long meets drinking game. Or how about if we did a music night with some great 80’s music and fashions or a Big DISCO night.
Let us know what you’d be interested in and thanks again for your support. The unpaid volunteers that work hard to make this happen are happy to do it and donate the funds after expenses to the community and events like Pride.
See you soon!
