Party Like It’s 2009!
Well once again you all turned out in numbers to help us have over a hundred people come out. There we some new faces – I hoped the last post helped a few of you venture out. There is no party on Friday, January 2nd. We’ll be resting up from the big New Year’s Eve Party.
The NYE party is really coming together. Carters Chocolates, the new chocolate shop in Port Orchard, will be providing truffles. We’ll have some food & cheeses to nibble on throughout the night. We have some fun stuff to give out including some great party favors. We’ve ordered the champagne, glasses and white linens to create a night you’ll remember.
This isn’t a Red Star night on New Year’s Eve. We are putting together a really special event. Hopefully the evening will end like a Red Star Party with everyone on the dance floor – dancing the night away. We are opening early. You can grab dinner and head over when we open at 8. At 9 we will have our first Midnight Champagne Toast as the East Coast rings in 2009. There are two reasons for this. The first is it seemed like a great way to kick-off the night. The second reason is that we wanted to create an option for people who wanted a special night out but might prefer to sneak home before midnight. Earlier in the night we’ll play lots of great party music to get you dancing. Get your requests in now. Disco? 80′s? Got a special song? Let us know – we can try to find it and play it for you.
I’ve said before we have great sound and lights, but our new truss that we tested at the last party really makes a difference in creating a fun dance experience. So wear some comfortable shoes. Oh, what to wear?! Our theme is GLAMOROUS. Dress for a party. Dress to impress. Come in what ever makes the night special for you. I know there are some hot Red Star T-shirts out there and I’ve been told that some people have ordered tuxedos.
We have arranged for Stephen Harter, who many of you already know, to take portraits of people in their party attire as they arrive and throughout the evening. He has been doing some really interesting photography work under the name Pixldust Studios. Photos will be available electronically at no charge after the event.
Tickets are only $15 in advance. We are keeping the costs down because this is the first big queer New Year’s Party in Kitsap. What is really helping is local gay-owned businesses showcasing their products and services. Plus, some tireless planning and shopping from your hosts Brian, Jay and Michael. It will really help if you can purchase your tickets in advance to ensure the night runs smoothly and the three of us can enjoy the evening with you. We volunteer our time to give the community a chance to come together. We’ve been doing this for two years and after the expenses we have been able donate $2,000 back to the local lgbt community. So, please try to get your tickets early – they would make a great stocking stuffer! Contact us through our website, MySpace or by e-mail and we will get you tickets. You can even pay online and get them in the mail. Tickets at the door will be $20.
Ultimately, this party is what you make it. We’ll see you there.
Here We Go…
There is a Red Star party this Friday. So, come on out and have a good time. We have been maintaining crowds of a hundred for many months now. We are getting more women to show up too. It is mostly men but the women who come enjoy themselves. People seem much more open to meeting new people than in a typical bar environment. Your hosts (Michael, Brian & Jay) will do all they can to introduce you to new people.
If you haven’t been to the Eagles since we started they did a nice remodel. The busiest area is the bar. The music is quieter in there but is lively with conversation. People gather around the pub tables and catch up. In the ball room, we hang banners that cut down the room’s size and make it feel more intimate. We have great sound and lights – we just got a new light truss to raise our light effects up to the ceiling. It’s the place to dance the night away. Read more
