Our August party is already upon us.  Since we just had a big party 2 weeks ago we’re expecting smaller than usual crowds – meaning over 100 instead of over 200.  We’ll be trying out using iTunes DJ to allow you to request songs from your iPhone (or a friends).  We’ll also have some DJ’s on hand to jump in.

Labor Day weekend kicks off with the White Party.  Last year’s party was a surprise hit.  So we’re bringing it back bigger and better.

We’ll be selling out t-shirt and donating a portion to AIDS Walk Kitsap which is on Saturday, September 18th.  Plan to walk.  Maybe we’ll have an after party!

The Pride Lauch Party is your kick off event.  Last month we had 300 people come out to party setting a new record.  DJ MAtt Stands was there with his new laser.  Matt has just be brought on to the Cuff’s First Saturday night so now you can catch him there.  This month we have VJ Andrew Jensen keeping you dancing with great videos on our big screen.  We’ve had the Eagles add a bartender to help keep things moving.  If it was our bar it would be different but we do what we can.  Thanks for being patient.

We’ve really had some exciting events recently and this next party will be no exception.  DJ Matt Stands returns again this month but with a new laser show like you’ve never seen before – anywhere.  Plus we have a great drag line up with Tory Marchella, Xandria Cocks, Sharon Huzbends, Katrina Duall, and Lexus Morre E’Vougue.  The show starts at 9:50.

April was a busy month with the Seattle Men’s Chorus concert and Dining Out For Life.  It was great to see so many people at other events.  It’s great that there is so much going on and before we know it Kitsap Pride will be here on July 17th.  In May, The Q Center is holding a Pink Prom for youth ages 14 to 23 at Olympic College.  They will be looking for some volunteers to chaperone and will be doing some fundraising to make it happen.

After I post this I’m off to the Grand Opening of the e new Fairfield Inn & Suites just a block from the Eagles.   I just saw that for May 7th  a King room is $89 and a Two Bedroom Suite that sleeps up to 8 was $159!  Party responsibly.

March: In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb.

Well our March party came in like a lion and set a new record.  It was our second busiest night ever.  The only busier night was the 2009 Pride Party.  The March Madness party had a great crowd of 220 only 20 shy of the last Pride Party.  Thanks to everyone who came out!

We would like to extend a special thanks to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Katrina Duall, and Mr. Gay Washington State Leather for coming to Bremerton on a Friday night to spend time with us.  We are honored to have your support.  Oh and what a show we had!  Special thanks to Tory and Xandria from Lashes at R-Place and Natalie for putting together a great show!  Look for more in the future!

Did you know that Red Star donated part of the March door to the Bremerton Foodline?  We did it through a Macy’s employee drive with matching so our $200 became $400 to the Foodline! $1 can equal 4 to 5 pounds of food. We’ve helped provide 1,600 to 2,000 pounds of food for our local community. That’s a TON of food!  We have also committed to supporting the stage at Kitsap Pride on Saturday, July 17 at Evergreen Park in Bremerton.

I wanted to let you know that our friends at the Kitsap County HIV AIDS Foundation are participating in Dining Out For Life on Thursday, April 29th.  All you have to do to help is eat out at a participating local restaurant that day.

This past weekend the Seattle Men’s Chorus had their annual retreat at the Silverdale Beach Hotel.  It was exciting to see the hotel flying a rainbow flag with pride!  It was fun to join them last night in the hotel bar after their day finished.  The chorus was rehearsing for their upcoming concert.  It will be at the Admiral Theater in Bremerton on Saturday, April 17 with a show titled “Ole!, Ole!, Ole!” featuring great Latin music including Ricky Martin and J Lo.

Another fun night at the Admiral Theatre will be Bjorn Again – the ABBA tribute band.  They added a second night after the first one SOLD OUT.  The just announced night with great seats available is Thursday, April 29th – the same night as Dining Out For Life – Dinner and a show, make it a night!

Unfortunately at our March Maddness party DJ Matt Stands was unable to make it because of last minute doctor’s orders.  He’s fine and we wish him a speedy recovery.  He is planning to be here in April at our party on the 2nd of the month.

I had the opportunity to meet the folks running the new Fairfield Inn & Suites just a block from the Eagles.  They gave me a private tour and we talked about the possibility of a Red Star rate based on availability the night of our events.  The hotel is very nice with a fresh clean look inside the lobby and rooms.  The rates are already very reasonable.  I just saw that a King room is $109 and a Two Bedroom Suite that sleeps up to 8 was $159!

I would also like to thank the crew that has been helping set up and breakdown these past few months.  Many hours, hard work and attention to detail has helped Red Star get to where it is today.

This month DJ Matt Stands returns to Red Star for March Madness!  He’ll be spinning some mad beats to get you movin’ and groovin’.  We are expecting a couple of R Place’s Lashes Show Queens to pay us a visit along with some Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Come out for a mad night on Friday, March 5th.  Doors open at 9pm.  This event is 21 and over.  Cover is $5 at the door.  Drinks are really reasonably priced.  The bar is cash only.  There is a typical bar ATM downstairs and a Chase ATM located on the same block.

Enter the Eagles upstairs at 205 6th street.  If you drive, there is plenty of parking available in the area.  Most of it is free and the word on the street is that the nearby pay-lots are not checked that late.  The lot next to the Eagles on Washington is reserved for their members – the good people who allow us to turn their hall in to a big gay bar.

Our events are usually held on the First Friday of each month which coincides with the Downtown Bremerton Art Walk.  Come on down and check out the galleries all just a short walk from the party.  There are some great places to catch a bite to eat.  The Eagles have a great steak dinner on our nights so come early and eat downstairs.

Make it a weekend and get a room at the Hampton Inn & Suites. It is located next to the ferry terminal on the waterfront only blocks from the party.  They support Red Star by giving us great deals to put up our out of town disc jockeys.

Red Star is three years old. We can hardly believe it. From our early days on Callow at the old G-style Knights with 80 to our nights at the Eagles with numbers over 200, Seattle DJ Matt Stands, our new lounge area and more. We have given several thousand dollars back to the community, given people a local place to party and continue to improve the experience. We have enlisted the help of a bunch of great volunteers to help us put it together and take it down each month. We were beginning to feel some burn out and everyone’s help has really injected new life and excitement into Red Star. In 2010, we hope to do even more bar take overs between our regular parties.

We’d like you to join us as we celebrate on Friday, February 12, 2010. This is the second Friday of the month. There were several scheduling issues that caused the move. We’ll pick back up on first Fridays next month. Last year’s Birthday Bash was one of our biggest nights. It’s the Friday before Valentine’s Day – so we’ll plan a red hot Red Star and there will be cake! We hope you will all come with your friends and show us the love.

We are decorating to create an experience for our theme of twilight Wonderland.  It will feel like a winter forest at night.  Dress for a party.  Dress to impress.  Come in what ever makes the night special for you. I know there are some hot Red Star T-shirts out there and I’ve been told that some people have ordered tuxedos.

Let’s beat this cold weather with a hot night to put 2009 behind us and welcome 2010!

We are working to do much more than just give you a club experience.  We are working to build community.  Connecting us to one another while financially supporting local organizations that support or community.  It is evident each month as many return and new people join us.  We love hearing, “How could I have not known about this?”  More and more we see friends gathering to celebrate a birthday or just to have a good time together.  Many people meet downtown Bremerton for dinner first or take in the ArtWalk always on that first Friday.  Some of you start at home and just pre-funk with friends.   I’ve heard of more than a few after parties and even been invited to some.  Oh, and there is always breakfast after at Shari’s or Denny’s.  People are connecting and as Martha Stewart would say “It’s a Good Thing.”

Speaking of good things, we’ve added the lounge area, which is open to all on a first come basis unless it is reserved.  We continue to work with the Eagles to improve bar service.  We are working on creating another fabulous New Year’s Eve party again this year.  The theme is Twilight Wonderland and will evoke a winter forest at night.  Just as you would expect, we’ll keep cover low and provide a high quality event.  Please get your tickets early to help us plan.  Let’s repeat the fun times from last year.

There is a party this Friday, December 4^th.  DJ Matt Stands, resident DJ at Seattle’s Cuff Complex, returns to keep the dance floor grooving to the latest club sounds.  Doors open at 9pm.  They do serve a good steak dinner downstairs before hand for under $10.  We are still 21 and over only.  Don’t forget that the door and bar only accept cash.  There is an ATM downstairs and others nearby.  So, come join us Friday night and let’s dance off those Thanksgiving pounds together!
